Before you build the PDF: prepare the pictures
- Light: photograph documents in even daylight or under a lamp from the side, not with a flash that creates glare.
- Angle: hold the phone directly above the page, parallel to it, to avoid slanted edges.
- Background: use a plain, darker surface so the page edges are clear.
- Crop: trim the table and borders with the Image Cropper.
- Orientation: fix sideways pages with Rotate & Flip. See why photos appear sideways.
How to create the PDF with Pixetools
- Open Image to PDF and add your pictures. You can select several files at once.
- Reorder pages with the arrows; remove mistakes with ✕.
- Choose A4 or US Letter (or “same size as the image”), a margin and a quality.
- Press Create PDF and download.
The tool runs in your browser and the images are not uploaded, which matters for contracts, IDs and bills.
Choosing the page size
| Option | Size | Use |
|---|---|---|
| A4 | 210 × 297 mm | Most of the world |
| US Letter | 8.5 × 11 in (216 × 279 mm) | United States and Canada |
| Same as image | Matches each picture | Screenshots, artwork, designs |
Controlling file size
Email systems and upload forms often limit attachments. To make a smaller PDF: choose “Small file” quality, resize very large photos first with the Image Resizer, or compress them with the Image Compressor. For printing a standard document, images around 1700–2500 pixels on the long side are plenty. See pixels, DPI and print size for the maths.
What if I need searchable text?
The PDF holds pictures, so you cannot select or search the text inside them. Text recognition (OCR) is needed for that, and the Pixetools tool does not provide it. For forms that require a text PDF, use your scanner or phone’s document-scan feature with OCR, or an office application.
Built-in alternatives
- Windows: select images in File Explorer, right-click, Print, and choose “Microsoft Print to PDF”.
- Mac: open images in Preview, choose File, Print and Save as PDF; or select the thumbnails and use File, Export as PDF.
- iPhone: in the Files app, select images, long-press and choose Create PDF (the wording may vary).
Checking your PDF
Open it before sending. Check the page order, that nothing is cut off, and that the text is legible when zoomed. Rename the file sensibly, such as john-smith-application-2026.pdf.
Mistakes to avoid
- Mixing very different page sizes without choosing a fixed page size. With A4 or Letter, each picture is scaled to fit the page, which keeps the document tidy.
- Sending huge photos. A 12-megapixel photo per page produces a heavy PDF. Choose “Balanced” or “Small file”, which is still readable for printed text.
- Cutting off the edges of a page. Keep a small margin, and make sure the whole page is inside the photo before you build the PDF.
- Forgetting privacy. IDs, bank letters and contracts are sensitive. Use tools that keep files on your device, and delete the temporary photos when you are finished.
Naming and sending
Use a clear name without spaces or special characters, such as invoice-october-2026.pdf, and check the receiving system’s size limit before you send. If the file is too large, try “Small file” quality or compress the photos first, as explained in compressing a JPG to a specific size.
